2008 Full-Time Kindergarten Conference

The Office of Public Instruction (OPI) hosted the 2nd Annual Full-Time Kindergarten Conference in Billings, Montana on August 12-13, 2008.

The purpose of the Full-time Kindergarten Conference was to present to current and future full-time kindergarten teachers and their administrators the value of full-time kindergarten and best practices in the field.

We featured an exciting list of presenters at this year's event.  Topics included "Read Well", "Counting and Number Sense", "Indian Education for All" and much more!

The keynote speaker this year was distinguished professor and author, Dr. Ray Reutzel from Utah State University.  Dr. Reutzel also hosted a unique breakout session featuring new research on the role of knowing letter names in predicting early reading success.

We would like to thank the teachers, administrators, professional organizations, and OPI staff for their overwhelming support in making this year's conference a success.  We hope to see you all again next year!

For questions or comments contact Terri Knapp by telephone at (406) 444-3559, by e-mail at tknapp@mt.gov or by fax at (406) 444-2893; the OPI toll-free number is 1-888-231-9393.
