The U.S. Department of Agriculture administers the program at the federal level. At the state level, the Team Nutrition Program is administered by the School Food Services, Office of Public Instruction.
Team Nutritions goal is to improve childrens lifelong eating and physical activity habits by using the principles of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Food Guide Pyramid. Team Nutrition offers training and technical assistance for school food service professionals. Additionally, training opportunities are available for school administrators, educators, parents, community members, and students to help create a healthy school nutrition environment.
Educational resources are available to school staff and community members to support nutrition education for school aged students or training on school food services issues. Resources are categorized in six different areas:
- Preschool
- Kindergarten through Grade 6
- Grades 7th through 12th
- Kindergarten through Grade 12
- School Food Service
- Adult
Resources cover a wide spectrum of nutrition and food service issues and include: curriculum guides, videotapes, computer software, nutrition games, food service training modules, and many more. |
