State Superintendent Denise Juneau's 2011-2012 Student Advisory Board (SAB)consisting of 40 high school students from 30 schools convened for the first of two summits in Helena. The board brings together a diverse group of voices, including students who have considered dropping out as well as students who excel in school. Board members, in grades 9-12, reflect the range of experiences of Montana students.

Board members and chaperones gathered at Exploration Works for a welcoming reception and to view the science exhibits on Wednesday, November 9. The students enjoyed handmade desserts by the Helena High Culinary Arts Club showing a visible connection between school and real world experience. The following day on November 10th, the board gathered at the UM-Helena College of Technology campus for a full day summit advising Superintendent Juneau on college and career readiness.
