Superintendent's Student Advisory Board

Wednesday, August 31, 2011, 11:37 am

Last year, Superintendent Juneau launched the first-ever Superintendent's Student Advisory Board. Forty students from 31 schools gathered in the Fall and Spring to share their ideas with Superintendent Juneau about improving the graduation rate and school climate issues. This diverse group of students came from every corner of Montana. Some of the students were valedictorian of their class. Some had to overcome great challenges to stay in school.

As about half of the Student Advisory Board members graduated this year, Superintendent Juneau will be recruiting new advisory board members to serve in the 2011-2012 school year. Please be thinking of who might be able to add to the diversity of experiences in this statewide board in your school. If you are interested in learning more about the discussions and recommendations of the Student Advisory Board, you can download reports from the Fall and Spring meetings here: http://www.opi.mt.gov/Programs/SchoolPrograms/Graduation_Matters/index.html#gpm1_5.
