GEMS Data Warehouse - K20 Data ProjectWednesday, November 27, 2013, 10:20 am
In 2012, the OPI received an additional Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) grant from the US Department of Education to continue the work of the K12 data warehouse (GEMS), by expanding it to include data required to assess the college and career readiness of Montana students – the K20 Data Project.
The first goal of this project is to establish data linkages between K12 and our postsecondary partners. Recently the GEMS team and the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education have collaborated in establishing our first data linkage between Montana University System (MUS) data our K12 data already housed in GEMS. These data will be accessible via GEMS in the new data domain – College Readiness.
Initially within the College Readiness domain, the OPI will provide Montana High School Follow-up Reports. These reports will provide enrollment, remediation, and retention statistics for Montana public and state-funded high school graduates entering the Montana University System (MUS). These reports begin with the graduating class of 2011 and will summarize the statistics for all public and state-funded high school graduates in the state of Montana for a given school year.
Students are broken out in groups by those who enroll in the MUS within 3 months of graduation, 4-16 months of graduation, and then a total for each graduating class.
These Montana High School Follow-up Reports will be available via GEMS by January 2014.
