GEMS Data WarehouseMonday, October 3, 2011, 5:12 pm
The OPI will soon "go live" with the first iteration of GEMS: The Student Achievement Domain. We are currently estimating that this part of the warehouse will be made available publicly in January 2012. This data domain will provide access to longitudinal Assessment related data. Reports, dashboards, and other visualizations in the 'Student Achievement' domain will show trends based on the following six data sets currently collected by the OPI:
1. Criterion-Referenced Tests
2. English Language Proficiency Assessment
3. National Assessment of Educational Progress
4. Iowa Test of Basic Skills
5. General Educational Development Assessment
Additionally, District/School Profiles and a comparison tool page will be deployed to the GEMS Public web site. This comparison tool will display data about schools and districts in the state of Montana, and allow users to compare this data across multiple schools and districts.
The design of the next iteration, Student Characteristics, is slated to begin in mid-October. Data sets included in this domain are Enrollment, Homeless, Neglected and Delinquent Students, Migrant Students and Limited English Proficient.
Many thanks to our stakeholders representing schools and districts who are taking time out from a very busy time of the year to help us in the design of GEMS. If you are interested in participating, especially with respect to the other domains yet to be added, please contact us. We value your feedback.
