Tuesday, August 28, 2012, 11:18 am

Regional trainings for Keeping Schools and Kids Safe have been scheduled for the following sites:

Glasgow Cottonwood Inn - September 25 (Tuesday)

Havre Best Western Great Northern Inn - September 26 (Wednesday)

Miles City Guest House Inn & Suites - October 1 (Monday)

Billings Big Horn Resort - October 2 (Tuesday)

The training day is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a working lunch provided.  The trainings are intended to increase educator knowledge and confidence when presenting comprehensive sexual health information, including prevention strategies and lesson plans for grades K-12 in bullying, drug and alcohol use, HIV/STD and teen pregnancy.  The training information will supplement a district's current health enhancement curriculum.  Bloodborne pathogen and work site safety policy and practices will be discussed and demonstrated.  Educators attending the training can earn 6 renewal units toward re-licensure.  All K-12 educators, especially health enhancement, family and consumer science, school nurses and counselors are encouraged to attend.  To help defray costs to the district, the substitute teacher fee will be reimbursed by the OPI for each teacher attending the training.  To register for a training, e-mail scourt@mt.gov at least one week prior to the training.
