U.S. Senate Youth Honors Scholarship Program
Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 5:03 pmHigh school juniors and seniors who meet the eligibility criteria listed below are encouraged to participate in the U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship Program for 2011-12. Two Montana students will be selected to participate in the Annual Senate Youth Scholarship Program. The top two Montana students will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and a one-week, all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., March 3-10, 2012. Applicants must:
Interested students should see their high school counselors to sign up for the qualifying political exam. Potential awardees compete for this scholarship by taking a 50-point exam on current politics, American History and the U.S. Constitution. The top scorers are then required to record responses to a set of questions provided by the Office of Public Instruction, U.S. Senate Youth Program staff. Two delegates and two alternates are chosen from the semifinalists. The result of this competition will be forwarded and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation will announce the two winners in December.
