The Chapter 55 Task Force needs your help.  The Chapter 55 Joint Task Force of the Board of Public Education (BPE) and the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) will meet May 16-17, 2011, to resume its work.  The purpose of the Chapter 55 Task Force is to review and revise the Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM) 10.55 Standards of Accreditation.  The revision process will align the standards with current innovative practice while offering flexibility, guaranteeing quality education, and assuring accountability.  By September 2011, the task force anticipates providing the state superintendent and the BPE draft recommendations for amendments to ARM 10.55.  July 1, 2013, is the proposed effective date for implementation of the revised Chapter 55.

How can you help?  Please give the task force your suggestions, ideas for amendments, and comments on the current draft.  Posted on the OPI Web site are draft recommendations for consideration, member contact information, work session dates, expected outcomes, and a survey asking for your comments on each section of Chapter 55 rules.  The Chapter 55 Web link is:  http://www.opi.mt.gov/Programs/SchoolPrograms/index.html#gpm1_3
