A
Message from State Superintendent Linda McCulloch
I
know we all share compassion for the families
in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi whose lives
have been torn apart due to the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. I am heartened by the
many students and educators who have already “rolled
up their sleeves” and pitched in donating
money and materials for the hurricane victims.
This week my OPI staff raised $2,496 for the American
Red Cross and bottled water donations.
Much has already begun, but much more needs
to be done.
That is why we are initiating “MONTANA
KIDS CARE: Collecting Pennies (and More)
for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina.” This
is a statewide initiative to collect money
to help with humanitarian aid. I’m
asking for your assistance in encouraging as
many schools as possible to collect money and
join in this effort.
This web site contains information, instructions,
and a poster that can be downloaded to publicize
the fund raising campaign. Also additional
information related to Katrina evacuees and Montana
schools will be posted.
Thank you for your support of these families.
 Linda
