Brainerd Foundation external link— makes grants to grassroots groups working to motivate citizens into actively protecting the environment.  Also grants “Emergency Grants” to "organizations that are confronted with an opportunity to carry out important work in a hurry.

Kongsgaard-Goldman Foundation external link — funds projects pertaining to environmental conservation/restoration, civic development, civil rights, and technical assistance.

Lower Flathead Valley Community Foundation external link— a charitable organization whose purpose is to bring tribal and non-tribal members together to work on projects preserving and conserving the cultural natural and human resources of the region with special emphasis on meeting the needs of children.

M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust external link — focuses its grant-making efforts in the five states of the Pacific Northwest: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington with emphasis on programs in education and scientific research, the arts, public affairs, health and medicine, human services, and people with disabilities

Montana Committee for the Humanities external link — offers grants for public programs in history, literature, philosophy, and other disciplines of the humanities.

Montana Community Foundation external link— seeks to protect and enhance Montana's unique resources through grants.  Website features a map, highlighting the different regions of the state, which lists different contact people for each area.

Otto Bremer Foundation external link — grants in the areas of racism, rural poverty, community affairs, education, health, human services, and religion, with preference given to areas served by the affiliates of Bremer Financial Corporation.

Pegasus Foundation external link — based in Massachusetts, mainly provides programs and funding in the West and Southwest for "animal protection, environmental preservation and public education.

Rural Community Assistance Corporation external link — provides technical assistance and financing for affordable housing, environmental infrastructure and community facilities in rural areas.

Territory Resource Foundation external link — seeks to "create a more equitable, just, and environmentally sound society for all" by providing limited financial support to activist, community-based organizations.
